Steppe Language Reference (WIP)

medekh: (011;)
This is all information from the Wiki which is in alphabetical order. I found the alphabetical order itself to be inconvenient for rp purposes so I reordered it into categories. Not everything is listed here/This is a WIP, the wiki is a much fuller and more robust reference in general.

For those who don't know Pathologic, the Steppe Language is a language spoken by the Kin, the Town's indigenous population. A lot of words are derived from Mongolian from my understanding. Artemy, being the son of the spiritual leader and healer of the Kin, knows this language along with Russian.

Character

Character Name: Artemy Burakh
Character Age: Late 20s but otherwise unspecified, for this, I'll say 28.
Canon: Pathologic 2
Canon Point: Day 9
CRAU (if any): N/A
• ────────── •
History: The Haruspex, a butcher, a killer, one could even say a murderous psychopath, gets the warmest character arc. It’s about love.
Personality: Artemy at his base is a man of contradictions. Artemy upon first glance is a stern, serious, and sometimes quite sarcastic man. He's tall and has a foreboding presence to him, some people even complain that he stinks of blood. However Artemy is also a kind person. The game through it's dialogue often references that Artemy is simply too softhearted and sentimental for his own good. During the series of events in the game, he is constantly doing things to help others, even if it doesn't come as a direct benefit to himself. Artemy being both scary and kind are both integral parts of the character, one does not cancel out the other.

Another direct example is Artemy's birthright and experiences in life. He's born to inherit the title of Menkhu from his father, the spiritual leader of the Kin, the town's indigenous group, but his mother is not of the Kin. Artemy learns medicine from his father, which would be more akin to a traditional healer, using herbs and the like, before said father sends him off to learn medicine in the capital. There he studies to become a surgeon which is interrupted by the war, being unable to graduate. Traditional healer, surgeon, field medic. He is all of these at once. While studying modern medicine, he becomes slightly disillusioned by his Kin teachings, and through the course of the game, learns to both be skeptical of and embrace his culture. He is both a traditional and a modern man.

Basically I think he's real neat and I like him a lot. :D

Initial Game Plan: He doesn't really know how to do much of anything else so he'll go off and establish his own general practice, pick some herbs, make some tinctures, etc. He'll also generally be sulking around doing networking with other doctor types and just figuring out what's going on, who's who, you know. Normal protagonist guy things.
RP Interests: Def want those weird interactions where people are kinda lowkey scared of Artemy because he's just kind of a creepy big dude at first appearance. Also need that slice of life wholesome stuff, he just lived probably the worst two weeks of his life before coming here, let him be happy. If there are children, they should be adopted by this man post haste, he is a father and he adopts kids. Romance? Maybe if the right person comes along.
Preferred Job: Physician
NSFW-friendly?: Maybe? Might end up being more fade to black friendly in practice.
